Mr. Kaufmann has taken advantage of the opportunities presented to him to work in many different industries, utilizing his public speaking, entertainment, customer service, management, training and sales skills. In the 1990’s Mr. Kaufmann took what some would consider a risk, and transitioned from a top sales position into an entry level entertainment position as Cruise Staff within the worlds largest cruise line. At a time when the industry itself was changing, only the most innovative and flexible were guaranteed success.
Mr. Kaufmann used his skills to balance the need to increase revenue, sustain excellent levels of quality entertainment and maintain the satisfaction of guests, at a time when many other cruise lines were struggling with providing this same level of service and were going out of business. The cruise industry is known for its emphasis on guest satisfaction, and for its relentless push to increase revenue. Cruise lines face constant competition for repeat business, and it takes an especially astute individual to balance the demands for revenue and the need to provide an unforgettable vacation experience for guests, in an environment where everything can change instantly due to unforeseen circumstances.
With success in the field came new opportunities and extensive responsibilities. Mr. Kaufmann was called upon to fulfill positions with increased levels of responsibility and recognition including Emcee of Ceremonies, Event Coordinator, Group Coordinator, Assistant Entertainment Manager, Back Stage Production Manager of Las Vegas style revue shows and ultimately Entertainment Director. Mr. Kaufmann created, hosted and coordinated hundred of small and large events involving hundreds to thousands of guests. The events included short one time events and week long celebrations.
During Mr. Kaufmann's career at sea he took his onboard experience and success in the sales and entertainment industries to take advantage of new opportunities presented to him and to transition into other positions with independent companies onboard. This transition allowed Mr. Kaufmann and his new bride Maggie Kaufmann to sail the sea's together, Mr. Kaufmann sailed aboard 28 ships on several different cruise lines over the course of twelve years.

From West to East and pole to pole, there's nothing like Johnny Favourite's Big-Eyed Soul! You may have heard his music in the past with albums such as “Holiday Romance” (Universal Records) or “The Tonight Album” (Alert Music). A unique distillation of elements from all over the musical spectrum (featuring the Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra) which garnered a Juno award and a dozen East Coast Music Award nominations. His success also allowed his band to tour for a year non-stop from New Orleans, Louisiana to St. John's Newfoundland and from Los Angeles, California to Nassau, Bahamas, generating a happening at each and every venue, and like the rest of Johnny's big life, his musical boundaries encompass a much broader territory.
Mr. Favourite’s unique journey started at Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta, where he was a bicycle waiter. Soon came a position in the green paradise of Jamaica in the hospitality trade. Mr. Favourite hungered for new things to satisfy his exotic taste for adventure, traveling the continent of Europe seemed like a great idea. Many European escapades ensued, but, it was after a complicated motorcycle journey from the Scandinavian countries to the sandy tip of a beach in Greece when Johnny's ballad began.
Mr. Favourite returned to Canada with a vision to create a respected and professional orchestra, his idea advanced into an unlikely 'overnight success'. He laid his foundation and created a small tidal wave in the Atlantic coast music scene as the producer, manager, director and singer of the Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra. In three short years he had recorded the independent album Life Desire and the internationally distributed recording Holiday Romance (Universal Records). After years of enjoying the music scene Mr. Favourite left the Orchestra and continued to explore new opportunities internationally.
Mr. Favourite was later offered an opportunity to go to sea by one of the largest cruise lines in the world. Mr. Favourite sailed aboard eight different ships on three different cruise lines over the course of six years. During this time Mr. Favourite's responsibilities ranged from singing, managing of musicians and later Emcee of Events, his short time onboard ended with Mr. Favourite managing and directing an entire retail department onboard. |
